press this: Emily August featured on Decor it Yourself!

Thanks to Meg at Decor It Yourself on Threadbanger for featuring my Bathroom Scale Redo on yesterday’s episode! Decor It Yourself airs Tuesdays, and be sure to check out Thread Heads on Fridays.

What a nice surprise. The episode features some great tips, especially for using old bath towels to make a new bathmat.

I’ve been really into using up the things I have before buying anything new lately. Some mundane examples are: combining the leftover bits of shampoo at the bottom of several bottles, using the back of scrap computer paper, eating food that’s been sitting in my pantry rather than going out to a restaurant, reading the books i have on my bookshelf instead of allowing myself to set foot in a bookstore. This has especially helped me in my relentless pursuit to pay off my credit cards (I’m winning!), and reclaim some space on the home front, but I have to say that its nice to ‘waste not want not’ whenever possible. There is just something satisfying and calming about making a wise choice and not wasting money or creating unnecessary waste.

Try thinking this week of one thing you could reuse instead of buying something new. I’d love to hear about it.

I’ve been trying hard to use up my big box of fabric scraps (patchwork wallets, bunting, etc.). It’s been kind of cool seeing all the little pieces of fabric I used to sew other stuff.

Thanks so much for spreading the word, Emily. Your projects are fantastic, I’ll keep checking in to see what you are up to. We must combine forces and re-do a whole room or something.
    xo, Meg
